Equipping students for high school and life beyond First Baptist Academy with confidence, faith and purpose.
At First Baptist Academy, our middle school program prepares students for the next chapter academically, spiritually, and personally. Middle school is a pivotal season where students grow in confidence, clarify their strengths and begin to take ownership of their future. Our role is to walk alongside families as students prepare for high school and life beyond FBA with purpose and clarity.
Intentional High School Placement
Choosing a high school is an important milestone, and First Baptist Academy approaches this process with care and intention. By eighth grade, students are ready to actively participate in conversations about their next step, guided by their parents and supported by our middle school team.
High school placement at FBA focuses on finding the right fit for each student by considering:
- Academic programs and learning styles
- School culture and community
- Individual strengths, interests and God-given gifts
Our middle school counselor partners with seventh and eighth grade families throughout the process, helping students gain confidence, advocate for themselves and approach this transition well prepared.

A Guided Process
FBA’s high school placement process is thoughtfully paced to reduce stress and build readiness over time.
Seventh Grade
Families are introduced to the high school placement process, expectations and timeline. Early conversations help students begin thinking about interests, strengths and goals. Seventh grade families are encouraged to begin visiting high schools, attending sports and fine arts events.
Summer and Early Fall
Students reflect on potential high school options and discuss preferences with their families. Guidance is provided to help families explore schools that align with their student’s academic and personal needs.
Fall of Eighth Grade
Students receive support through entrance exam preparation resources, practice interviews and admissions essay guidance. High school visits, shadow days and open house opportunities are shared with families throughout the season.
Late Fall and Winter
Students complete applications to the high schools of their choosing. The counseling office assists with transcripts, recommendations and required documentation.
Spring
High school acceptance notifications are received, and families celebrate the next chapter as students prepare to graduate from FBA and move forward with confidence.
Skills Beyond the Application
The high school application process is more than a checklist. It is a meaningful opportunity for students to develop skills that will serve them well beyond middle school, including:
- Interview preparation and communication skills
- Reflective writing through admissions essays
- Decision making and personal responsibility
- Confidence in articulating goals and values
These experiences align with our mission to develop students who are prepared not only academically, but also spiritually and emotionally.
