Primary School Part-Time Assistant

This specific position is Monday-Friday from 12:00-6:00pm.The ideal applicant should have experience with children ages Infant through 5 years old. The applicant must be an active Christian, be nurturing, love children and be able to relate to them. Must be in good health with the physical stamina and agility to work with children. Be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. Must be able to sit frequently on the floor with children, stand for periods of 30 minutes, walk at a steady pace, and bend at the knee and squat while attending to the children's bathroom needs. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere, accepting instructions and assignments from the classroom Lead Teacher and/or Director as needed. Must accrue at least 24 hours of training in applicable areas of each child development studies. Must keep up with current developments in education by voluntarily attending professional meetings, working on advanced degrees, etc.

Encore Staff

First Baptist Academy is seeking Encore Staff to join our 2018-2019 school year team. This role is a part-time position that oversees the students that must remain on campus after school is out until their parents are able to pick up the students. The hours of the position are from 2:45PM-6:15PM from the first day of school through the last day of school (9 1/2 months). Holidays are consistent with the school calendar.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the children involved in the Encore program.
  • Follow the schedule of each grade level and oversee homework time, snacks, and playground, gym, and classroom time. Takes daily attendance.
  • Assist with all minor medical emergencies after 4:00PM. Notifies parents if further medical attention is necessary.
  • Serve snacks to students.
  • Respond to the direction of the Encore Director.

Physical Education Teacher

First Baptist Academy, serving students infant through eighth grade, is seeking a Physical Education Teacher for the 2018-2019 school year.

Mission Statement:

Our mission is to equip students with the Truth of God’s Word while developing their character, intellect, and potential to Explore, Create, Challenge, and Lead.

Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum planning as well as developing lesson plans.
  • Working closely with classroom teachers to help students gain greater understanding of material.
  • Teach a few health or fitness related sessions in lower school classrooms.
  • Actively pursuing professional development in coaching and teaching movement skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaching PreK-8th grade PE classes.
  • Assists administration by being observant and supervisory at all times to care for the safety of students, their good conduct and well-being of buildings and equipment.
  • Attend Faculty meetings.
  • Respond to directions of the Athletic Director and other personnel with delegated authority.
  • Actively engage in student life.
  • Adheres to the Faculty and Staff Handbook.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school.
  • TEA certified for Physical Education EC-8 (or willingness to attain certification).
  • Excellent Christian character.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work in a highly collaborative and rigorous environment.
  • Desire to coach multiple middle school sports.

Duties of a Physical Education Teacher:

  • Develop effective lesson plans to teach physical education appropriate to the age or grade level.
  • Teach cognitive concepts about motor skills and fitness.
  • Observe and inform students of corrective measures necessary for skill and improvement.
  • Instruct students on importance of regular amounts of appropriate physical activity now and throughout life.
  • Assess the skill level of students and provide differentiated instruction for various ability groupings.
  • Offer alternatives during classes to accommodate different levels of fitness.
  • Explain and enforce safety rules governing sports, recreational activities, and the use of sports and exercise equipment.
  • Maintain order among students.
  • Document attendance, grades and other records.
  • Confer with parents or guardians, teacher and administrators to report on students’ progress.

School Counselor

First Baptist Academy is seeking a full-time School Counselor to begin Summer, 2018. This position is a key part of the educational leadership team. The School Counselor will be housed in the Middle School office, but also will be available to provide valuable assistance to all students in grades PK-8. This position works with faculty, parents, and students to foster a caring, supportive, and safe environment in which FBA students can experience successful academic, social, and emotional development.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Continue current and create new support programs for students, faculty, and families.
  • Develop and implement Biblical-based, character education lessons.
  • Offer individual student and group support services (academic, behavioral, social, emotional).
  • Be prepared to offer crisis intervention when needed.
  • Walk the journey with 8th grade families in identifying high school options.
  • Be available to attend weekly Grade level Team Meetings to offer support and guidance to faculty.
  • Conduct Grade Level meetings in the principal’s absence.
  • Attend and/or facilitate Parent/Teacher conferences when needed.
  • Assume the responsibility for the Middle School Awards Ceremony. This includes all aspects of the ceremony; meeting with teachers, securing appropriate names for awards, printing certificates, invitations, gathering teacher comments, editing and writing the manuscript as well as directing the ceremony.
  • Assist and help facilitate eighth-grade graduation.
  • Assist Head of School with presentations to faculty as needed for special topics.
  • Assist and facilitate and present in a Transition Team Meeting involving parents of rising 5th graders in the spring.
  • Coordinate all the Lower School and Middle School standardized testing preparation which included ordering, structuring testing schedule, and training of personnel, implementing procedures, testing and administering make-ups.
  • Assist the Lower-school Principal and Middle School Principal in disseminating the explanatory information to parents as they move into the early years of standardized testing for their children.
  • Aide administrators in the interpretation of the standardized test scores.

Qualifications:

  • A dynamic Christian educator with previous counseling experience in the K-8 educational environment·
  • A Master’s Degree in Psychology or Education, School Counselor certification, and/or a Licensed Counselor (preferred), along with exemplary academic credentials.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, creativity, and the ability to multi-task.
  • Team-building skills and the ability to lead and work confidently and effectively with colleagues, students, parents, the broader school family, and community.

First Baptist Academy, serving students infant through eighth grade, is seeking a Middle School History Teacher for the 2018-2019 school year.

  • Working closing with grade level team members, specialists, administrators, and other colleagues to ensure that all students make academic and social progress in accordance with FBA’s mission and core values.
  • Continue pursuing professional development in course preparation and technology in the classroom implementation.
  • Willingness of the possibility of teaching one middle school elective course.

Encore Coordinator

First Baptist Academy seeks an Encore Coordinator for our after school program serving Kindergarten – 8th Grade to join our team. This is a full-time position from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. beginning on the first day of school through the last day of school. Holidays are consistent with the school calendar.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

HIRING ENCORE TEACHERS:

  • Recruiting and interviewing
  • Submitting background checks
  • Schedule fingerprinting
  • Securing payroll forms (W-4, I-9, Direct Deposit), copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card. Submitting these to the Business Office for payroll set up.
  • Setting up CPR training if not CPR certified
  • Training new Encore Teachers

SUPERVISION OF ENCORE TEACHERS:

  • Scheduling a substitute teacher when necessary
  • Communicating daily changes in schedule
  • Checking/Submitting Encore Staff Payroll

SCHEDULING OF EACH GRADE LEVEL:

  • Snack time
  • Playground time
  • Homework time
  • Gym/Oasis/Courtyard time

OVERSEE SUPERVISION OF STUDENTS:

  • Making sure that students are visible
  • Handling minor medical emergencies after 4:00 p.m. Notifying parents if further medical attention is necessary
  • Meeting with respective Principals to implement discipline policy
  • Communicating incidents to parents picking up their children
  • Communicating all incidents to the respective Principal and School Nurse
  • Administering Biblical Based Discipline

ADMINISTRATIVE

  • Coordinating Calendar to schedule rooms for the year
  • Facilitating the Encore table and vendors during Orientation
  • Having Encore forms available during Orientation for parents to sign students up
  • Communicate with vendor representatives about FBA events, policies, and procedures
  • Copy and distribute Enrollment forms to Encore teachers which contain authorized pick up names and phone numbers
  • Answering phones at the front desk during lunch (daily)
  • Ordering and inventory activity equipment
  • Providing sign in/out sheets for teachers (as needed)
  • Recording daily attendance per grade level
  • Turning in monthly report to Business Office reflecting monthly and drop in charges along with late fees
  • Ordering snacks and verify that they are delivered timely
  • Responding to the direction of the Director of Finance and Operations
  • Generate and tally sign up forms for early dismissal dates to insure worker coverage
  • Provide Encore teachers for early dismissal during Finals for Middle School students who stay to study. Get with Middle School Principal to secure a room for studying
  • Remain until last child is picked up
  • Close and lock up necessary areas when leaving
  • Encore teachers must re-certify in CPR every other year
  • Get and maintain your food handler certification
