Primary School Part-Time Assistant

This specific position is Monday-Friday from 12:00-6:00pm.The ideal applicant should have experience with children ages Infant through 5 years old. The applicant must be an active Christian, be nurturing, love children and be able to relate to them. Must be in good health with the physical stamina and agility to work with children. Be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. Must be able to sit frequently on the floor with children, stand for periods of 30 minutes, walk at a steady pace, and bend at the knee and squat while attending to the children's bathroom needs. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere, accepting instructions and assignments from the classroom Lead Teacher and/or Director as needed. Must accrue at least 24 hours of training in applicable areas of each child development studies. Must keep up with current developments in education by voluntarily attending professional meetings, working on advanced degrees, etc.

Encore Staff

First Baptist Academy is seeking Encore Staff to join our 2018-2019 school year team. This role is a part-time position that oversees the students that must remain on campus after school is out until their parents are able to pick up the students. The hours of the position are from 2:45PM-6:15PM from the first day of school through the last day of school (9 1/2 months). Holidays are consistent with the school calendar.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the children involved in the Encore program.
  • Follow the schedule of each grade level and oversee homework time, snacks, and playground, gym, and classroom time. Takes daily attendance.
  • Assist with all minor medical emergencies after 4:00PM. Notifies parents if further medical attention is necessary.
  • Serve snacks to students.
  • Respond to the direction of the Encore Director.

Middle School Band Teacher

First Baptist Academy, serving students infant through eighth grade, is seeking a full time or part time Middle School Band Teacher for the 2018-2019 school year.

Mission Statement:
Our mission is to equip students with the Truth of God’s Word while developing their character, intellect, and potential to Explore, Create, Challenge, and Lead.

Requirements:

At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumental Music

General Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for 5th Grade Band, Beginner Band and Concert Band
  • Prepare each band for respective performances
  • Maintain sheet music library
  • Maintain school instrument inventory and condition of instruments
  • Prepare advanced students for Region Band
  • Attend Region Band auditions and Clinic and Concert the following week
  • Plan and oversee Solo & Ensemble Contest (collect money from students, hire judge and accompanist)
  • Plan and prepare for Splashtown Festival in May (collect money from students, communicate with contest officials, arrange for transportation and chaperons)
  • Prepare Concert Band for Concert & Sightreading Contest
  • Communicate with Anna Walker on physical needs for performances at FBA
  • Rearrange written music to fit current instrumentation and skill level

5th Grade Band Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Introduce individual instruments to students
  • Try students on each instrument
  • Assign instruments and lockers
  • Introduce basic music theory
  • Demonstrate how to assemble and play instruments
  • Monitor students as they assemble and play their instruments
  • Explain how to form the embouchure for each instrument
  • Assess and evaluate each student’s playing working toward producing a good characteristic sound

Beginner Band Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assign lockers
  • Introduce basic music theory
  • Demonstrate how to assemble and play instruments
  • Explain how to form the embouchure for each instrument
  • Monitor students as they assemble and play their instruments
  • Assess and evaluate each student’s playing working toward producing a good characteristic sound
  • Select music for Fall and Spring Fine Arts Festivals
  • Select and assign solos for Solo & Ensemble Contest

Concert Band Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Continue instruction on individual instruments and producing a more mature characteristic sound and musicianship
  • Prepare individual students for Region Band Auditions
  • Attend Region Band auditions and Clinic and Concert
  • Prepare music for Veteran’s Day
  • Prepare Christmas music for Fall Fine Arts Festival
  • Assign solos and ensembles for Solo & Ensemble Contest
  • Prepare music for Concert & Sightreading Contest
  • Prepare for music Splashtown Festival
  • Prepare music for FBA pep rallies and Warrior Day

Physical Education Teacher

TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • •Curriculum planning as well as developing lesson plans
  • •Working closely with classroom teachers to help students gain greater understanding of material
  • •Teach a few health or fitness related sessions in lower school classrooms
  • •Actively pursuing professional development in coaching and teaching movement skills

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIIES:

  • •Teaching PreK-8th grade PE classes
  • •Assists administration by being observant and supervisory at all times to care for the safety of students, their good conduct and well-being of buildings and equipment.
  • •Attend Faculty meetings.
  • •Respond to directions of the Athletic Director and other personnel with delegated authority.
  • •Actively engage in student life.
  • •Adheres to the Faculty and Staff Handbook

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school
  • TEA certified for Physical Education EC-8 (or willingness to attain certification)
  • Excellent Christian character
  • Excellent interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work in a highly collaborative and rigorous environment.
  • Desire to coach multiple middle school sports

DUTIES OF A PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER

  • Develop effective lesson plans to teach physical education appropriate to the age or grade level
  • Teach cognitive concepts about motor skills and fitness
  • Observe and inform students of corrective measures necessary for skill and improvement
  • Instruct students on importance of regular amounts of appropriate physical activity now and throughout life
  • Assess the skill level of students and provide differentiated instruction for various ability groupings
  • Offer alternatives during classes to accommodate different levels of fitness
  • Explain and enforce safety rules governing sports, recreational activities, and the use of sports and exercise equipment
  • Maintain order among students
  • Document attendance, grades and other records
  • Confer with parents or guardians, teacher and administrators to report on students’ progress
