Music

First Baptist Academy students have opportunities to worship through the artistic expressions of music. Students gain foundational skills of singing, theory, solfege, and performing. FBA music students are creative leaders.

PreK & Lower School Music

PreK and Lower School students attend an enrichment music class once a week. Students are introduced to music theory in age appropriate ways.

Older students are exposed to playing two musical instruments: the recorder in Thirrd Grade and the ukelele in Fourth Grade.

PreK and Lower School students participate in Christmas music performances. In addition, Lower School students present a Spring musical.

Middle School Music

Middle School choir students learn how to sing cohesively as a unified group. Students sight read excerpts using solfege and practice identifying rhythmic and melodic notation. Fundamental skills of posture, breathing, tone, and articulation are addressed. In addition to singing, students learn the historical or cultural context of the choral literature they sing and are able to communicate a deeper understanding of the text. Students perform in unison, 2-part harmony, and a Capella singing. Choir performs at two fine arts chapel throughout the school year.
