Kindergarten Traditions
September
- Fall T-Shirt Painting Day
- Manners Tea Party - Week-long study of manners and nutrition, ending the week with a tea party.
October
- Creation Pageant - Seven-week long study in Bible on creation, ending with a play.
- Farm Field Trip - Week-long study a week on farm animals and pumpkins, with a field trip to the farm. Each student brings back a pumpkin and performs graphing and measurement activities with it. Following their field trip the students go to the computer lab. Using the Kidspiration application, the students choose clip art of the animals they saw on the farm, place them on a photo of a farm, and type a sentenence about visiting the farm.
- Scarecrow Day - Week-long study on fall and scarecrows, ending with a scarecrow dress-up day. Students decorate a scarecrow hat to wear and stuff their own class scarecrow.
November
- Advent Calendars - Students make advent calendars to take home to count down the days until Christmas.
- Thanksgiving Luncheon - Students and parents share a Thanksgiving meal together. Students bring an item to the luncheon just like the Pilgrims and the Indians did at the first Thanksgiving. Students bake their own pumpkin pies in class the day before for the feast.
December
- Gingerbread Houses - Students study Christmas Around the World for two weeks and decorate real gingerbread houses.
- Polar Express P.J. Day
- Christmas Around the World - Students study a different country each day and discuss various Christmas celebrations. At the end of the study, students bring a food item from a different country for a festive Christmas luncheon.
January
- Jesus Party - Students study the life of Jesus as a boy and spend a day in the life of Jesus. Students have robes to wear, play games that Jesus would have played, and have a tasting party to sample foods that Jesus would have eaten.
- Bear Hunt - Week-long study on bears, ending with a bear hunt throughout the school and church.
- 100th Day of School - Students count the days from the beginning of school until we reach Day 100. Students participate in activities that center around the number 100, including making a a 100-Day necklace, snack, and sunglasses, counting 100 steps from our classroom and writing a journal about 100 foods. Students bring in a 100 project and we count to 100 by 10's.

February
- Chinese New Year Feast - Week-long study of Chinese culture and traditions, ending with a Chinese feast and parade.
- Valentine's Day Party
- Rodeo T-Shirt Painting
March
- Texas Program and Kindergarten Rodeo - Students study Texas for two weeks and perform a Texas program. Children participate in a rodeo in the rotunda and various rodeo events.
- Kite Day - Week-long study on wind, including flying kites outside.
April
- Easter Egg Hunt - Students study Easter and the meaning of the Easter egg, ending with an Easter egg hunt in the Oasis.
- Circus Field Trip - Students learn about circus animals and work on circus-themed activities, ending with a field trip to see the Shrine Circus.
May
- End of School Program and Party - Students perform a graduation program for their parents the last day of school. They also paint an End of School Ocean T-Shirt and have a beach party to celebrate.
