The Gifted and Talented / Enrichment program at FBA is unique. The GT curriculum is customized for each student based on his/her gifts, interests, and learning styles.
At FBA, GT learning opportunites are not only for a select few, but all students participate in enrichment programs throughout the year. Each grade from second - fifth has a special unit of study each year when they focus on a particular topic and are provided with a variety of learning opportunites.
The Middle school students examine the free enterprise system, the history of the Stock Market, and they participate in the International Stock Market Game. Each year FBA places in the top three teams for our region.
The GT / Enrichment program also offers specialized small group instruction for students in grades three - eight. The curriculum is based on current events (such as elections or the Olympics) and then springs into various fields of study such as space, physics, Greek/Latin, robotics, theatre arts, and aeronautics.
To be considered for the small group Innovations program, students must apply. The GT committee reviews the student's grades, conduct, achievement test scores and teacher recommendations. Since these class sizes are limited, students must demonstrate a love of learning and an eagerness to work outside the classroom.
