Traditions

MIDDLE SCHOOL TRADITIONS

Middle School students take part in a diverse assortment of traditions through the school year.  These cross-curricular activities integrate lessons from different subject areas to provide another fun and engaging way for students to learn. 

Here are just a few of the many traditions that students look forward to:

All Middle School

 

Pep Rallies
Middle School and Lower School students come together to celebrate FBA with help from the band, cheerleaders, and athletes.

Spirit Week
Sponsored by Student Council, this fun-filled week leads up to the final football game of the season includes theme days, costume contests, a pep rally and more.

Veterans Day Chapel Ceremony
Students invite veterans to a Chapel ceremony in their honor, including a reception, special music, and a special program.

Fall & Spring Athletic Banquets
Scholar athletes are recognized for their accomplishments on and off the field in cross country, football and volleyball (fall), and basketball, cheerleading, lacrosse and track (spring).

Interim Term These three days of co-curricular activities expand students' ability to apply what they learn in the classroom, as well as develop creativity and a sense of community.

Warrior Week
During this spiritual emphasis week, students attend a special Chapel service each day where they receive guidance for personally encountering the Lord.

5th GRADE

6th GRADE

 

• Wax Museum
• ABCs of Geography
• Mineral, Mountain, Volcano and Oceanography Projects
• Christmas Around the World
• "Backpacking Across Europe"

7th GRADE

 

• Texas Tour – a two-day field trip to Austin and San Antonio in April
• Galveston Trip – a one-day field trip
• Duke Talent Identification Program
• Mark Twain Days

8th GRADE

 

• T-Bar-M – an overnight retreat to build team leadership skills and begin preparing for high school application
• Washington, D.C. Trip – a five day field trip to the nation's capital, from Monday through Friday during the first week of May
• Hobbit Banquet
• American Revolutionary War, Constitutional Convention and Constitution Units
• Current Events Speech
• Romeo and Juliet Project
• 8th Grade Graduation Ceremony
